What can I say about the weekend? interesting and expensive are 2 words that come to mind, I cant believe I had to race on the Yamaha!
I have no idea what made me crash in qualifying, I passed Pete on the brakes going into turn 1, held a good line, got on the gas to drive out of the corner then Bam! i heard the bike scream to the limiter, my head hitting the deck and I'm sliding at over a 100mph. Everything slowed down though, I had time to look where the bike was, get onto my back to keep me from rolling and check that Pete wasn't going to collect me. Once I came to a stop I looked at the bike laying in the tire wall and decided it wasn't going to run again this session (besides it was miles away to walk too!) so I walked over to the marshal post and greeted them with a cheery 'morning'.
After realizing the extensive damage to the front end of the Triumph I was lucky to get the R6 to the track and ready for race 1, we were still lock-wiring when the bikes left for the grid!

Race 1,
I was a bag of nerves. starting at the back of the grid on a bike I hadn't ridden in 4 months wasn't very confidence inspiring. Luckily battling with 2 Ducati's took my mind of things and I just settled down and enjoyed the race after the 'off' in qualifying. I managed to make up 6 places at the end, 4 of which were my class so all good. Well done to Moody for getting the 4th though!

Race 2,
Race face on this time, with Andrea and Steve right in front of me it was going to be a tough battle. I managed to get passed Steve who stuck to my tail the entire race but didn't have the legs to catch Andrea. All in all I enjoyed just being out there and getting a chance to race...albeit on a Yamaha!.

Well, it was surely an interesting weekend!
I have to say everything was going really well until my mate Alan had his off in qualifying, and it was only on my cool down lap that I had realized that seeing the triumph laying on its side at the tyre wall!
I was so glad to see him walk unharmed and all well to race his Yamaha instead.
The weekend was very dusty from the storm and can't imagine the track being more slippery. I believe most of the racers' times were down to a second due to the track conditions and heavy wind.
My qualifying went OK but wasn't enough until I went on my last lap out with 4 minutes left to clinch 5th position on the grid.

Race 1,
Not a bad start as I was with the front guys in turn one, though got really tangled with the tiny club circuit and the big grid of both 600s and 1000s to end up behind Toni and his R1.
Luckily i managed to get by Andrea and Alshamsi and put my head down to hunt down Toni.
Unfortunately passing him on the corners wasn't as bad as him catching me up every single lap on the main strait. I ended up 4th in my class but loosing the time to catch up with the front runners.

Race 2,
Nothing has changed really, had the same momentum during this one and unfortunately so did Toni! preventing me from getting to the guys in front, but I have to say I really enjoyed the battle, and the Trumpet proved it has the means to chase up the top 3. I finished 5th after Jussi who crashed in the 1st race and did well to get in the front.

All in all was a good weekend, and well done to my mate Alan in keeping up the good spirit albeit a heavy and very expensive crash! I can't wait to the next one as we try the triumphs after a complete tweaking of the fueling and Dyno time to prepare it for the next race, things will get interesting. stay tuned.
