19 March 2010 - Round 6, Dramatic race day!
Boyter #76
Race 1,
I hadn't got a great qualifying place but I had Steve right behind me which meant it was a guaranteed battle. With the lights going out everyone was away cleanly and even turn one was relatively behaved. Coming up to the hairpin at the end of the back straight i seen Adriano sliding on the ground after which presumably was a low slide. Unfortunately with the traffic Moody had nowhere else to go and hit him square in the back. The last thing i seen as I passed was my team mate flying over the bars, the race was obviously stopped.
As I get to this point I must implore the organizers to either change the rules and have the pikes come into park ferme on a stopped race or be ready to give out water to the riders who are standing in 35C heat in leathers on the start finished straight. One organizer actually said to me that our pit crew should be bringing it down to us as they don't have any.....very well but who's going to run up and tell them? This happens time and time again and it really is a poor show.
The restart eventually commenced and within 2 laps another 3 bikes were down! the race wasn't stopped though yet another lap round and the red flag was out again. The decision was made to end the race there and then with 2 full race laps completed. Due to this I found myself on the podium with 3rd place!
Race 2,
With all the delays the race distance had been reduced to 8 laps so it was always going to be a mad dash. For the entire race myself, Steve and Osman battled it out, swapping places every lap and at one stage we all moved a position in the one corner! I managed to keep Steve behind me but the power of Osman's R6 had me licked. I crossed the line .3 seconds behind Osman and Steve .2 seconds behind me. Good Race!
Moody #10
Race 1,
Not much to say as 8 riders crashed on the 1st race! including me.
Going into the hairpin after a good start, the corner was packed with riders and as Adriano lost his front, I had barely a fraction of a second to avoid him, unfortunately I didn't have the time nor the space to react
and I found myself flying after hitting him strait! Luckily I got away with bruises and a bit of neck ache for few days, I can't tell the same about Adriano who had to be hospitalized.
Of course my race was over then.
Race 2,
After fixing the minor damages on the bike thanks to Aldrin, it was ready for race 2 but was I ?!!!
Not really, unfocused and bruised I convinced my self to go ahead just to try and get that horrible feeling I had from the previous race, and I just managed to keep it steady and finished the race in 6.
Not bad after a day full of drama!
