Vendetta Racing is heading to Bonneville, on the hunt for a world Land Speed Record.
Vendetta Racing have been fortunate enough to tick off various big racing bucket list items over the years. Raced the Isle of Man TT course twice, Competed in Dakar, various off-road world championships to name a few.
Racing on the historic Bonneville Salt flats will be a perfect complement to the afore mentioned accolades, even more so as its for a world record.
The record in question is the FIM I.A1.A II.2 1000cc class. For details, This class is defined as 1000cc capacity, 2 cylinder, non-naturally asperated (Turbo/Supercharger/Nitrous is allowed) and non-streamlined, a naked, non faired bike.
The bike has been quietly being built since Summer 2022, with the aim of initial testing to start before year end 2023. and the project being fully ready for shipping to the USA in June 2024.
Land-speed trials are all about going faster than anyone has gone before on a mile-long course over perfectly level terrain at Bonneville Salt Flats. Classes are determined by engine displacement, modification levels and various degrees of streamlining, and encompass everything from small-displacement racers to high-powered, custom-built streamliners made for the sole purpose of topping 400 mph.
Some classes are more serious than others, with participants ranging from weekend enthusiasts chasing double-digit mph speed records on small-bore motorcycles to professional race teams fielding million-dollar engineering masterworks.
The Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials, is the premier motorcycle land-speed racing event in the world. This AMA-sanctioned event, which also includes Fédération Internationale de Motocylisme recognition, offers competitors the opportunity to clinch AMA national and FIM world records aboard machines from 50cc mini-bikes to 3,000cc.
